The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors recently asked state legislators for permission to “combine” county and school land acquisition, capital construction and other responsibilities. Fair enough, though I’m surprised that Supervisors are willing to cede that kind of authority to the School Board.

Senator Mark Warner has a joke about his early days as Virginia governor. Some might argue it’s his only joke, as he tells it at nearly every speaking engagement.
Last weekend was nice. It was the first time in two months that I didn’t feel sick by Sunday night. I watched some NFL games, of course.
This week, several letters regarding the 2009 election were received after the final deadline for inclusion in the Oct. 28 edition. With an objective of ensuring that everyone has their opportunity to comment, these final letters are included here.

One more week, and Election 2009 is finally over. It’s been a long time coming and began with some hard-fought primaries that evolved into bitter campaigns.
The dog threw up in my daughter’s bedroom at 3 a.m. Saturday.

I was dozing across the hall when I heard him revisiting his dinner.
