The Loudoun County School Board received the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) staff recommendations at the board’s Nov. 10 meeting and heard from several Ashburn and Lansdowne families and students affected by the long awaited and much debated boundary change.

Both scenarios recommend students from the Lansdowne community relocate from Stone Bridge High School to the new Tuscarora High School in Leesburg beginning with the opening of Tuscarora High School in the fall of 2010.

While Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) policies and processes regarding attendance boundaries continue to be discussed and debated by members of the School Board's Ad Hoc Committee on Attendance Boundaries, a very interested public remains engaged and involved.

School Colors and Mascot Announced for Tuscarora High School

The “Husky” was selected as the school mascot, and royal blue, black and white are the school colors for Tuscarora High School in Leesburg. Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS 11th high school, Tuscarora is set to open September 2010.

The discussion began January 26, shortly after the 2009 Presidential inauguration, and included three community input meetings on Ashburn/Leesburg high school attendance boundaries as well as public comments offered at school board meetings. Couched in the recent ‘One Hundred Days’ refrain of performance and accomplishments–the school board failed to adopt a plan to redistributed high school enrollments.
