Loudoun Zoning Inspectors to Work Weekends

Sterling Will Again be Target of Pilot Program

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors decided Nov. 17 to launch next year a six month pilot program, where zoning inspectors working on Saturdays will pro-actively investigate areas in eastern Loudoun known for high numbers of complaints of unkempt properties and overcrowded homes.

According to county documents, the program will run between Jan. 1, 2010, and June 30, 2010, and will focus on areas in Sterling that do not have a homeowners association.

Man Stabbed at Sterling Bar

Sheriff’s deputies responded to Ned Devines at around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. The stabbing occurred shortly before—apparently initiated when the victim confronted the suspect for allegedly making advances towards his girlfriend and touching her inappropriately on the dance floor. A fight broke out between the two and the victim was stabbed.

The suspect in the assault is described as a black male, 5 feet 7 inches with a thin build.

The unidentified victim was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital. He is expected to fully recover from his injuries.

A 30-year old female reported that she was assaulted while walking her dog on a path near the 260 block of West Meadowland Ln. The victim reported that there were 3 attackers: a white male, a white female and a black male.

Sexual Assault Suspect Sought By Sheriff's Office

Mitchell Arterberry III
Authorities identified the suspect as Mitchell E. Arterberry III, 22, of Sterling. The woman he is suspected of assaulting was an acquaintance. Authorities gave no date of when the offense occurred.

Authorities said Arterberry is known to travel often into Washington, D.C.

Copper piping was stolen from a construction site at the 43900 block of Devin Shafron Dr. in Ashburn.

Unknown persons entered an unoccupied home at the 11690 block of Dutchmans Creed Rd. in Lovettsville, stealing a washing machine, wood stove, toilet, medicine cabinet, light fixtures and a sewage pump.

Destruction of Property

Playground equipment located near the intersection of Freeport Way and Stukely Dr. in Sterling was damaged by unknown persons.

Man Wearing Halloween Mask Robs Bank

The suspect fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Witnesses described the suspect to authorities as a 6-foot male with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black shoes and carrying a walking cane. The mask he was wearing was said to have large, white teeth.

Investors in the now-defunct Presidential Golf Club in Sterling owe contractors more than $4.5 million.
At a meeting in Leesburg Oct. 6, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors gave the go-ahead to a plan by Lerner Enterprises to add 453,000 square feet of offices and a 225,000-square-foot hotel to the Dulles 28 Centre at Route 7 and Waxpool Road. The mall is well known as home to a Wegmans.
