Board Sets Criteria for Golf Carts on Roads
The matter was spurred by a request by residents of southern Loudoun’s Lenah Run. A petition in Lenah Run showed that more than three-quarters of the community supported the request. Lenah Run does not have a golf course, but residents said they want the option of carts, since their community has no sidewalks to walk on.
Residents in Lowes Island are also asking for permission to drive carts on their community’s roads.
The Dartboard: Good or Bad?
A continued look into the Freedom of Information Act documents regarding the stalled Countywide Transportation Plan seems to show a relationship between lobbying against both schools and roads, at least for some.
A number of e-mail communications between the Dulles Commissioner and the Citizens for Community Schools coordinated a meeting in the spring, ostensibly a public one, that was apparently only advertised via e-mail lists and private discussion boards.
As Golf Carts ‘Collect Dust,’ a Community Waits
For Marc Smith, it was just easier to pile the family, drinks and food into the golf cart than to take the car to the latest neighborhood barbecue. Parking was a breeze. Not to mention, the small, slow-moving vehicle made for a great conversation starter.
“It was much more social [than a car], and much friendlier,” Smith said. But since he and the rest of his Lenah Run community learned last year it was illegal to drive their golf carts through the neighborhood, his has sat quiet.
McLean Man Dies in Lenah Run Auto Accident
James Gregory Planicka of McLean died Sunday, July 12 as a result of a single vehicle crash. Planicka, 44, was driving a 2001 Honda S2000, and lost control on Lenah Run Circle at approximately 4:20 p.m.
MS-5: How Easy It Can Be?
Absent two members, the Loudoun County Planning Commission gave unanimous approval for a commission permit and a recommendation for approval of construction of Loudoun’s first two-story middle school, MS-5, in the Dulles South area of the county. LCPS seeks to build the yet unnamed facility–a 1,350 student, 180,000 square foot middle school–on 37 acres south of South Riding at the intersection of Braddock Road and Ticonderoga Road/Loudoun County Parkway.
