LCPS Superintendent Ed Hatrick Provides 'State of Education' for Chamber as New School Year Begins

Dr. Ed Hatrick, Superintendent of Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) presented a State of Education report to members of the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce on Sept. 8. He profiled the continued growth of student enrollment, the reduction in funding for schools’ operating budget, the decline in starting and average teacher salaries, and the drop in per pupil costs.

Dr. Ed Hatrick, who has served as superintendent of Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) for 18 years, was recently installed as President-Elect of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA). Hatrick, a member of AASA for 22 years, has served on the AASA Executive Committee and the AASA Governing Board. He was elected president-elect for 2009-10 in April.

School Board Considers Grade Weighting

Once again, the Loudoun County School Board is scheduled to discuss and possibly act on recommendations and objections to “weighting” grades for honors, Academy of Science and dual enrollment classes. LCPS Superintendent Ed Hatrick and LCPS staff outlined suggested changes.
