“We had been asked to provide this before, but the money was not available until now,” said Nancy Gourley, transit chief in the county’s Office of Transportation Services.

All Around Ashburn: Curtain Closes on Broadlands Drama

Well, the hospital drama is over in Ashburn. I'm speaking, of course, of the certainty that an HCA hospital will not be going in Broadlands, and very likely may end up in the southern part of the county. In a finely recorded history of opinion, you need only read the Broadlands forums on the hospital topic to get a sense of the emotion behind the issue. Regardless of viewpoint, there were no minced words.

All Around Ashburn: Summertime Rocks in Ashburn

Ashburn Column: Summer Rocks

I am watching my five kids dance enthusiastically around the living room while I research this column. They are listening to a track from Doug Segree's live album One Night Only. It's a melodic, laid back kind of rock. It reminds me a little of Dave Matthews, a little of Jimmy Buffett, and a lot of summertime. It is the perfect music for an outdoor summer concert.

Thursday morning kids from Ashburn got up early during their summer break to participate in a charity triathlon event. Though there were some veterans, this event was the first triathlon for most of the kids and earns them the title “Triathlete”.
