All Around Ashburn: NFL to Film "The Blitz" Episode in Ashburn on Labor Day

The National Football League will be bringing TV crews and a youth team from China to Ashburn on Labor Day to film an episode of its eighteen-week series of 'NFL Blitz'. The show will feature a friendly exhibition game with two teams from the local NOVA "NFL" Youth Flag Football League. The Saints, coached by Tim Lasher, and the Patriots, coached by Shawn Gorman are participating, with the children from China mixed into the teams.

Everyone is invited to come out and cheer on the teams.

Peeler Leads Spartans Past FHS Falcons

 Coach Michael Burnett had the Spartans ready to take the field against Fauquier, and the outcome was decided in the first 12 minutes of the game, as Broad Run easily garnered their first victory of 2009, scoring 40 to 6 over the Falcons. It was the 21st consecutive regular season win for the Spartans, who have also won 25 of their last 26 games.

The brainchild of Leesburg resident and former Freedom High School baseball coach Chris Bourassa, Play to Win was proposed as a private sports center outfitted with six outdoor artificial fields and three more inside a 225,000-square-foot building. Multipurpose courts, office and retail space, an eatery and a swimming academy are also in the mix for this project, which is slated for 40 acres along Belmont Ridge Road just south of Route 7.

Former New York Times reporter Jayson Blair is a life coach in Ashburn.

The Centreville-resident, according to news reports, is working at the Ashburn Psychological Services, which has offices in Ashburn and Leesburg, according to the company’s Web site.
