Services for 'Butch' Hammersley to be Held on Nov. 6

“Butch” was a devoted life member of Little River Baptist Church in Aldie, where he served Pastor Jesse Parker and the church congregation as deacon, and headed several of the church’s committees throughout the years.

He retired in January 2009 after working nearly 30 years as an engineer with the government. Prior, he worked as a mechanic and engineer at the Wonderbread plant.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice Hitt Hammersley of Aldie; four daughters, Theresa Lea Corcoran of Montross, Va.; Lisa Lynn Newsome and Tina Elife DuBose both of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; Jennifer Kay Roberts of Leesburg; and his son James Christopher Hammersley of Gainesville.

He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Kay McArtor of Pensacola, Fla.; 16 grand children and four great-grandchildren.  

He was predeceased by his first wife, Sandra Marie Hammersley, and his parents, Robert Hammersley, Sherwood and Mildred Hoskins.

Friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, at Little River Baptist Church, 40385 Braddock Rd. Aldie, 20105. Interment will be in Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Little River Baptist Church 40385 Braddock Rd. Aldie 20105.
