“SLASHBURN” HAUNTED HOUSE at the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, 20688 Ashburn Road in Old Ashburn. This is the first year of this event, where the Company 6 firehouse is transformed into house of horrors. Event runs Oct. 29-31, starting at 7 p.m., and last ticket sold at 10 p.m. Tickets are available in advance for $10 through Facebook, and at the door for $12. FRIGHT NIGHT. The Fire Escape Youth Center at the Community Church, 19790 Ashburn Road, Ashburn, is offering a 30-minute descent into terror along a dark trail in the woods behind the church. Fright Night happens on Oct. 30 and 31 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. both nights; admission is $20 per person, Children under age 13 must be accompanied by an adult; due to the mature nature of the content, it is recommended that children under the age of 10 do not participate. HALLOWEEN EGG HUNT & MOONBOUNCE HAUNT for ages 2-10 at the Sterling Community Center. Come dressed in your best costume! ALL DAY TRICK-OR-TREATING at Cox Farms on Halloween. A kid's dream of all day trick-or-treating on Halloween has come true at Cox Farms. Every child wearing a Halloween costume on Saturday, Oct. 31, will be able to Trick-or-Treat at the Fall Festival from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Each time a child goes down a slide, he/she collects a Halloween treat. This is a great way to trick-or-treat indoors in a safe environment. The retailers at the outlets will be handing out candy to children in costumes. This free event is happening all day. SOUTH RIDING HALLOWEEN PARADE will be held on Oct. 31. Form up at the South Riding Golf Club parking lot. At 1:45 p.m. The parade starts at 2 p.m., and goes to the Upper Clubhouse taking a left on Center Street and end at the Town Green where there will be a petting zoo, magic show, crafts for the kids, and other Halloween fun. The parade route is approximately 6/10 of a mile. Secret spies will be meandering amongst the ghouls, ghosts, and goblins to pick costume winners in a few different categories for both kids and adults, donated by South Riding Market Square. If you park near the Golf Club, you will have to make the return. Trick or Treating in South Riding is Oct. 31 after dusk until around 8 p.m., but never past 9 p.m.

HILLSBORO'S HAUNTED SCHOOLHOUSE. There's something strange going on at Hillsboro's Old Stone School: classic scary stories are coming to life on Halloween night! Ghostly “students” will guide groups through the maze of zombies, Count Dracula, Frankenstein and his Bride, the Mummy, and more, provided by Loudoun Valley High School (LVHS) Drama Club, Hillsboro Community Association (HCA) members and local actors. Suggested ages 5-12, accompanied by parents. Tickets are $5 per person; $3 for children 12 and younger. All proceeds go to the HCA and the LVHS Drama Club. The school is located at 37098 Charles Town Pike (Route 9), nine miles west of Leesburg.
