Boy Scout Troop 2970, sponsored by Our Saviors Way Lutheran Church in Ashburn is very proud of its new Eagle Scout: Brendan J. Yarbrough. Brendan has been involved in Scouting for over 10 years. He began as a Cub Scout in Pack 1483 where he earned the highest honor in Cub Scouting—Arrow of Light.
Brendan has earned 33 merit badges for citizenship, fitness, and outdoor and life skills. An avid outdoorsman, Brendan has accompanied his troop on treks to places from Alaska to Maine.
As part of his effort to develop leadership skills, Brendan has served as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Order of the Arrow Troop Representative, Patrol Leader and Den Chief for his troop. He is the ceremonies leader of Loudoun’s Goose Creek Chapter of the Order of the Arrow. Brendan has been a member of Order of the Arrow ceremonies teams, which have competed and won awards at the DC metro and regional levels. He was elected to serve as a member of the Order of the Arrow Service Corps at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree held in Caroline County, VA where the Scouts will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Scouting movement.
Brendan assisted the Cub Scouts in Loudoun County as a staff member at their annual summer day camp, teaching youths to have fun and become better Scouts. Brendan was also a member of the summer youth staff at the DC area wide Camp Snyder Cub Scout Camp in Gainesville, VA.
A junior at Briar Woods, Brendan has earned academic honors, participates in the Symphonic Winds and Jazz Bands, and played on the junior varsity soccer team. He is also a member of the Youth Group at Our Saviors Way Lutheran Church in Ashburn.
