Elizabeth "Betty" Fouche Simpson Bines of Potomac Falls died March 19, 2009 at Falcons Landing. She was born November 27, 1919 to Frank and Minnie Wortman Fouche of Ashburn. Mrs. Bines lived in Vienna, Va. from 1921 until 1996, when she moved to San Antonio after her marriage to retired U.S. Air Force Col. William H. Bines III.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 52 years, Redmond (Bubby) Simpson, and second husband of four years, William (Bill) Bines of San Antonio, and her daughter, Joan Corbin.
Mrs. Bines was a member of the Vienna Presbyterian Church, and attended the Protestant Chapel at Falcons Landing. She was the senior member of the Harmony Chapter # 60, Order of Eastern Star for 69 years, having been initiated on January 29, 1940. Mrs. Bines is survived by her daughters, Brenda Knicely of Dayton, Va. and Frances Jean Oliff of Centreville; her sons, Joseph Simpson of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Stephen Simpson of Round Hill; and a stepson, William H. Bines IV of South Carolina. Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive her.
The family will receive friends at the Everly Funeral Home in Fairfax on Thursday, March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m., where an Eastern Star service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with interment to follow in Fairfax City Cemetery.
