The Leesburg Police Department has arrested David Schneider, a previously convicted sex offender, with Aggravated Battery of a Child under the age of 13.
David Theodore Schneider, 39, of Leesburg, was arrested on Tuesday, July 7, and charged with Aggravated Sexual Battery of a Child Under the Age of 13. Schneider is a registered sex offender, having been convicted of Aggravated Sexual Battery in the Virginia Beach Circuit in 1993. He was initially entered into the Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry in Sept. 1997 and the registration was renewed in May 2009. Prior to his arrest, Schneider had been on parole and employed by Auto Advantage of Virginia.
While Leesburg police were understandably reticent to share additional details regarding the victim or the process of investigation, Chris Jones, spokesman for the Leesburg Police did say the incident "was not a random act" and that Schneider was "not a stranger to the victim and the victim's family."
Schneider is currently in police custody and is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
