Auto Injury
May 6, 7:33 a.m.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the intersection of Mirror Ridge Place and Mirror Ridge in Sterling after receiving a report of a child possibly struck by a vehicle. An investigation and a search of the area did not locate the driver, although witnesses indicate that the driver was not driving recklessly and that the child ran across the road from between parked cars. The driver did remain until the bus left the area with the child, who was uninjured and examined by emergency services at the child's school. The investigation did not indicate that the driver would face any criminal or traffic charges.
Destruction of Property
April 29- May 6, 12 a.m. - 1:10 p.m.
Graffiti, possibly gang-related, was spray painted on a fence near the intersection of Vandercastle Road and Hampton Court in Sterling.
Fraud
May 7, 5:11 p..m.
A resident of Wintersrun Court in Ashburn contacted police in regards to a possible scam. The victim had been attempting to sell furniture over the Internet. A buyer sent the seller a check well in excess of the asking prices. The buyer asked the seller to keep some of the extra money and wire the rest. The seller realized this was a likely scam and contacted law enforcement.
Larceny from a Vehicle
May 6-7, 5 p.m. - 7:20 a.m.
An MP3 player, car stereo and satellite radio unit were removed from a vehicle after damaging a window at the 47300 block of Sterdley Falls Terrace in Sterling.
