A customer attempting to buy gas Thursday at 1:43 a.m. at the Sunoco on Pigeon Hill Drive was approached by two unknown men. One of the men pulled a firearm from his waistband and took the victim’s wallet and its contents.

The first suspect was described as a black man, about 5’9” and thin, wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, a dark baseball cap, and blue jeans. The other suspect was described as a tall, thin black male who was wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses. Both men were covering their faces.

Because this happened outside, not in the convenience store part of the gas station, there were no cameras in the immediate vicinity, said Kraig Troxell, public information officer with the Sheriff’s Office. Today investigators will look at the tape from the security cameras in the store to see if anyone matches the physical descriptions given to the suspects.

While there have been other robberies in the area, none are similar to this situation, Troxell said. “Robbing a patron outside the store is unusual, and certainly not similar to the other robberies in the area,” he said.

Anyone with information regarding the possibly identity of these suspects is asked to contact Investigator R. Lunsford of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-0475.

If the caller wishes to remain anonymous they are asked to contact Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. If the caller provides information that leads to an arrest and indictment, the caller could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.

We don’t want crime in our neighborhood. Go away criminals.

This is ridiculous! Good people of Sterling and Sterling Park... While our community may be a unique "melting pot" we should get to know one another and watch each other's backs. Stay vigilant, be strong and ALWAYS report suspicious behavior. We ALL need to root out the riff raff and do our part to ensure this community is a place where weak minded criminals like this are not welcome.
