It was determined that a Toyota sedan and a large dump truck were both driving westbound on Route 7 when the car apparently rear-ended the dump truck.
The front seat passenger in the car, Adam Katz, 26, of Ashburn, was pronounced dead at the scene. The car's driver, Justin Schuback, 25, of Ashburn, fled the scene but was later found and arrested by police. It is unknown if speed or alcohol were involved in the accident.
Members of the Leesburg Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the incident. Virginia State Police assisted and helped with traffic control.
