Wolf To Hold Town ‘Call’ on Health Care Reform

On Sept. 8, U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10th) will hold what is being billed as a “Town Call,” where residents will be able to opine on President Barack Obama’s plan to restructure the nation’s health care insurance system via their telephones.

Through much of August, federal lawmakers have been holding town halls across the country to gather constituents’ feedback on what the government should do with respect to health care. Some of the gatherings have turned into shouting matches, with backers on both sides attempting to drown out the other.

As for where Wolf stands on the issue, he said he opposes health car legislation now in Congress due to its expected high cost and option for a government-run coverage plan.

“I believe that any plan put forward must control costs, not add billions of dollars to an already ballooning deficit; ensure competition and choice, and provide that patients and their doctors make the decisions on medical care rather than a government-run agency,” he said in a statement.

With the town call, constituents who signed up to receive Wolf’s e-newsletter through his Web site and supplied their phone number and zip code as well will likely receive a call in the late-afternoon on Sept. 8 asking if they want to take part. During the call, Wolf will give an opening address and then take questions.

Wolf spokesman Dan Scandling said Wolf has been holding tele-town halls for the past two years to rave reviews from participants.

“People love it,” he said. “You don’t have to leave your house and you can hear what you want to hear … It’s an easier way to communicate than town halls.”

Scandling added that while health care reform will likely dominate discussion during the Sept. 8 call, constituents can ask questions on any topic they please.

Obama keeps getting a free pass on his "illegal aliens are not covered" lie.

Illegal aliens can be covered because democrats refuse to ask for "citizenship" when applying for health care.

Democrats recently defeated the Heller amendment in the House Bill that would have enforced a citizenship requirement for health care benefits.

Saying that illegal immigrants cannot benefit while at the same time blocking verification is akin to passing a law that sets the legal drinking age at 21 years and then preventing bars from checking a patron's identification.

The reason we have 12 - 20 million illegal aliens here is because they refused to enforce our immigration laws and now they are attempting to make it even worse.

Also, Obama keeps repeating over and over again the need to provide insurance to the 46 million uninsured even though he also admits that the 46 million number includes illegal aliens. One of the two is a lie, which is it Mr. President.

Just more Obama lies, trickery and deceit.

Maybe the democrats don't want the citizenship rule enforced to protect their president. Maybe Obama doesn't want to enforce the rule about proving citizenship for his own, personal reasons. Could he prove his citizenship?

I've listened to Rep. Wolf's town "calls" several times, and there's no way they could take the place of a real town-hall meeting. Even if you can't attend in person, you can watch on C-SPAN (like last night's Reston forum with Rep. Moran) or public access TV. While unlike a live forum in that speakers can't be shouted down by people who disagree -- that's a benefit, if you're actually trying to learn something -- the call-ins are a bit of a copout. The congressman's staff have complete control over the questions that get asked. That can make the debate pretty one-sided. I wish my congressman (Wolf) would consider holding a real town-hall meeting here.

Dear Congressman Wolf, Thank you for sending information about your view on our economy, debt, health care, and terrorism. I agree with your statements. I wish you had added to the health care issue that killing of innocent huiman beings is contrary to our Constitution's 14th amendment which protects the right to life granted to us in the Declaration of Independence . We need to make it clear in any health bill that abortion is the destruction of a human being as is euthanasia. Neither of these horrors should be allowed in our country. We were founded as one nation under God and if we accept these atrocities, we are defying our Creator and asking for His punishment. Our country will not be ours. Certainly killing innocent humans provides health care to no one- not even the mother of the child. As a taxpayer, I refuse to pay for abortions. It violates my conscience and everything that I believe. Our government must remember that this is a Republic and the people are in charge. You and the other members of the House and Senate are servants of the People. I think you are aware of this or you wouldn't have bothered to send the information. Please speak out for most of us who believe abortion and euthanasia are evil and we do not want to support these evils. Thank you again for sharing your views. I wou;ld like your opinion on mine.
