A Sterling woman lost her life Friday night when another vehicle slid sideways and crashed into the vehicle she was traveling in. At approximately 10:30 p.m., Hector L. Nunez, 19, or Arlington was traveling north on North Lincoln Avenue near Harding Court in a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser. Losing control of the vehicle, Nunez slid sideways and crashed into an oncoming vehicle. Noemi Orellana-Nogales, 20, of Sterling, was a passenger in the vehicle. She was injured when by the oncoming vehicle crashed into the 2006 Kia Sorrento in which she was traveling. Orellana-Nogales lost her life at the scene.

Nunez was also injured. He was airlifted to INOVA Fairfax Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. He has been charged with reckless driving. The driver of the Kia, Curtis Johnson, an adult passenger and three children ages 9, 11, and 13 were taken to INOVA Loudoun Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

According to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, the Crash Reconstruction Unit revealed that the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash and lost control along a curve in the road.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
