Encouraged by the warm weather, over 35,000 people turned out last weekend for the 19th Annual Leesburg Flower & Garden Festival. Considered one of the best festivals of its type in the Mid-Atlantic, the streets of historic downtown Leesburg were abundant in green as different vendors sold flowers, plants and accessories for the garden. Over 120 vendors where there and a variety of entertainers performed on the old Courthouse steps.

The Flower & Garden Festival marks the beginning of spring for many, and allowed local residents to get prepared for spring planting and the Earth Day celebration this year.

In addition to the festival itself, nine landscapers participated in a horticultural competition where a panel of judges named the top three of the year. This year’s winners were: First Place- Wildwood Landscaping; Second Place- Landscape Associates; Third Place- West Winds Nursery. Wildwood Landscaping won the people’s choice awards.

Mark your calendars. Next year’s festival is scheduled for April 17-18, 2010.
