The event was held at The Dock in Lansdowne Monday morning.

Film producer and part-owner of the Washington Capitals, Wizards and Mystics, Sheila Johnson, a self-described “staunch Democrat,” headlined the event in pledging her support to Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell. Johnson said she got “hammered” by deciding to endorse McDonnell, but she did not care.

After interviewing all of the Democratic candidates in the gubernatorial primary, Johnson said that she found herself disappointed with their inability to convey what they stood for, or how they planned to move Virginia forward. Johnson described McDonnell as the most intelligent politician she has ever met, and was impressed with how he really listened and was able to get to the heart of every issue, particularly sex trafficking and education.

When Johnson told McDonnell that she supported him, he responded, “You’re kidding,” Johnson said.

“I wanted this to be a teaching moment for me and for everyone,” said Johnson, adding that voters cannot let political parties take advantage of them and assume they are getting votes.

She told the crowd, consisting of mostly Republican women in Loudoun, that she thought Deeds was taking advantage of women’s emotions by manipulating McDonnell’s thesis, which described working women as “detrimental” to society. “I am about women’s empowerment… Bob McDonnell is about women, employs women, and respects women. That issue should be over,” Johnson said.

Also speaking at the rally were Republicans Tag Greason, candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates (32nd district), Del. Bob Marshall (13th district) and Del. Joe May (33rd district). They urged the group to continue to pound the pavement, make phone calls and place yard signs to gain support for each of the state’s upcoming races.

The event was sponsored by the Loudoun County Republican Committee.

Election Day is Nov. 3.

Johnson doesn't actually own the Wizards or the Capitals.

Great endorsement from the business community. My hope if for a McDonnell/Greason victory in my district. Poisson has waged the most negative/destructive campaign I have ever witnessed -- unfortunately, this paper lost it's journalistic "independence"/integrity in the coverage of Greason's race and has been complicit in Possion's deviant smoke screen. Poisson is nothing but a big statist that seeks a huge role for government in everyone's life -- he is drunk on political power to say the least.

It is comic at best to hear Greason's campaign calling Poisson a "professional politician" or, as here, "drunk on political power to say the least."

The guy has been in office less than three years.

Get a grip.

Including his days with Dick Durbin and the Chicago plitical machine -- he has many more years than just a couple in politics as you claim. We know who Poisson is -- He is a huge tam man that seeks more government control. You get a grip buddy.

I hear Greason is running a negative and misleading campaign, making up stuff about taxes and even putting out a mailing that asks voters if they'd trust Poisson with their children. Shame on you Tag. You lost my vote when you had your stooges attack a woman who once filed a criminal complaint against you.

Well for what it’s worth, and that’s not much here is how I see the election.

In the 13th, I hope that John Bell will win but I predict Bob Marshall will win.

Like him or not, the people in the 13th always go for Marshall. Some of his issues (such as autism) work in his favor, combine that with a very conservative district and Marshall wins again. Bell has ran a great race and in any other district he would have a shot, but not in the 13th and not this year.

In the 67, I hope and predict LeMunyon will win.

Look its fine if Caputo had to miss a special session last year, but the man has missed his whole election. Where is he? LeMunyon has come up with reasonable ideas and even ways to raise revenue. I like Chuck, he’s a nice guy, but he does not deserve this one.

In the 86th I hope and predict Rust will win.

Stevens Miller is the worst; he’s been a poor Supervisor and within one year became a poor candidate. There is a reason Rust has every major endorsement. I’m not sure if Miller is power hungry, or just does not care about the Dulles District or what the hell going on with him. But whatever it is he has proved himself to be not worthy of winning this election and not deserving of getting his Supervisor seat back. In the 86th GO TOM GO!

In the 32nd I hope and predict Poisson will win.

Tag Greason is the perfect example of the term “Politics Corrupt.” Before this election this was a nice guy, what the hell happened to him. The lie about Poisson not paying his taxes is just over the top. And it’s a stupid lie. Poisson’s house was not even built until 1995, so when Greason says Poisson did not pay taxes on that house in 1993 and 1994, it’s a ridiculous lie. Combine that with the cozy relationship he’s formed with the Greg Stone types and Greason is not an option for me. BUT, I have hope that he will learn from this election, wash the "yuck" off himself and try again in the future.

JDobson, agreed that Caputo seems to have missed the campaign season, but we'll never know if it was okay to miss the special session on transportation until he gives some kind of official statement on it.

I've seen three different "explanations" by various anonymous insiders on a variety of blogs and messageboards, and zerozipzilchnada from the man or the campaign.

Not okay.

Dave Poisson is a perfect example of how power corrupts. I voted for him last time, but refuse to this time due to his low-class campaign. It may inspire the far-left, but certainly not Independents like myself.

Ha ha! "Dick Durbin and the Chicago political machine."

Conspiracy theories and political paranoia? That's what you're running on? Do conservatives not see why the country has turned its back on them?!?

The Rs are running on jobs, the economy, and reduced role of government/taxes. Poisson is running on penis fliers. Easy choice for any voter to make.

Damn, I was going to give my two cents but Dobson stole my thunder.

BTW, maybe if Greason kept his Johnson under wraps he would not need to deny the penis flyers.

Greason is a joke, and I'm no liberal.

Ms. Munsey, you have been warning us about Miller for a while. Next time we should listen.

Barbara Munsey (not verified)

Russell, thank you! That's a very nice thing to say, but I don't think anybody should make a decision just because I say so, unless it is the decision to find out for themselves what may support what I'm talking about. The records are all out there, and some of them are doozies.

J Dobson - I guess the yuck is on you....maybe Poisson can learn a lesson from his insane campaign.
