Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) announced a community information meeting regarding HS-7, the new high school planned to serve the Dulles South area of the county. LCPS recently announced the purchase of 101 acres south of Route 50, north of Braddock Road/Route 620 and Goshen Road near Stone Ridge for the new high school and a future elementary school.
The LCPS community information meeting is set for Wednesday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Mercer Middle School, 42149 Greenstone Drive in Aldie.
Last week, the Loudoun County School Board votred 8-1 vote to approve multiple contracts totaling $10.15 million for the 101-acre assemblage. They subsequently requested expedited approval of necessary county permits so the high school may open as planned in the fall of 2012. The LCPS community meeting is the first in a series of county public hearings and opportunities for the public to ask questions and provide comments on the proposed new high school. On November 4, 2008 Loudoun voters approved school bonds totaling $82.2 million for HS-7, according to information provided by LCPS.
The Loudoun County School Board authorized contracts with six separate owners for the assemblage of 10 parcels totaling 101 acres: with Stone Ridge Community Developments LLC for $4.1 million; Aldie Investments LLC for $2.6 million; Floyd and Sandra Kline for $890,000; Doris Larsen for $878,104; Atif Ihsan Shah for $875,000; and Robert and Frances Hall for $723,623 for a total purchase price of $10.15 million. The School Board action also approved $550,000 in deposits to secure the multiple contracts.
