The seminar, entitled “Working Together: Local, Small, Minority and Woman-Owned Businesses Working with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority,” will run from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and will be held at the Renaissance Hotel, 999 Ninth Street NW, Washington, D.C.

The seminar is offered free of charge, but advance registration is required. Visit www.mwaa.com for registration and more information.

The Airports Authority operates Washington Dulles International Airport, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, and the Dulles Toll Road, and is managing construction of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project.

Contracting opportunities are available in construction, concessions, and goods and services. The Business Opportunity Seminar will provide information to local businesses about upcoming contracting opportunities with the Airports Authority, networking opportunities, and information on how small businesses may partner with larger companies on Airports Authority projects.

In 2008, the Airports Authority generated more than $485 million in contracting activity for construction, and goods and services.

Local Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (LDBE) received $158 million, or 35 percent of that total. Gross receipts from Airport concessions (excluding parking and rental cars) totaled $289 million in 2008 with Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprises accounting for 33 percent of that total.
