Speaking in the dining room of Oak Hill Manor–the Loudoun County home of America’s fifth president, James Monroe–Cokie Roberts delighted those assembled as she discussed her most recent book, “Ladies of Liberty.”

When Dulles Rail finally reaches the area, Route 28 will provide the connection. No matter the transit networks to come, the Route 28 roadway will be vital to the region, to commuters, and to the commercial trucks that ferry cargo to and from the nation’s ninth busiest airport based on 5.7 million international travelers in 2007. Dulles International Airport employs an estimated 20,000 people and served almost 24 million passengers last year.

The deadline for submission of proposals is Friday, October 30, 2009.

Acorn House 1
What normally happens—when a house is destroyed by fire in any neighborhood in this country, and certainly in Loudoun County—did not happen following the August 15, 2005 fire at the house at 45 Acorn Court in Sterling. After a fire, cause and damages are determined, and the structure is either rebuilt or demolished to make room for a new home to be built on the property.

What happened at 45 Acorn Court is nothing like that.

Progress is visible as construction continues on the $7.9 million Eastern Loudoun Sheriff’s Station on East Frederick Drive in Sterling, adjacent to Rolling Ridge

Julia's Foxes 1
Three new young residents have arrived in our eastern Loudoun neighborhood, taking up residence in the storm water drain. The young foxes, or “kits,” are a surprise and a concern to neighbors as they exit and enter the storm drain and roam around yards during the day.
