Congressman Frank Wolf (R-10th) joined Republican nominee for Governor Bob McDonnell on Thursday to unveil a comprehensive plan to reduce gain activity in Virginia. It is a multi-tiered approach that includes toughening the laws regarding gang activity, suppression of the gangs through increased enforcement and intervention with at-risk youth.

Glen Caroline is on his way to Richmond—and he’s bringing more than a few friends with him. While the official paid party members of the Loudoun County Republican Committee (LCRC) number at approximately 260, over 500 Loudoun residents have signed up to attend the state convention and cast their vote. According to Caroline, Chairman of the LCRC, approximately 11,000 Republicans have registered as delegates for the state convention—although the true test of the event will be how many truly arrive at Richmond’s Convention Center on Saturday.

The news is dangerous business. Competition is fierce and there’s always a race for the next big story.

The biggest sound byte of the moment is the politically foolhardy decision by Liberty University to suspend the Democratic Party club on its campus, stating that being both a Democrat and a Christian is not possible. The core of the decision lies in the Pro-choice position of the Democratic Party as a whole. This seems to be a radical overreaction to the criticism of Notre Dame allowing President Barack Obama to speak at their graduation.

Jon Bowerbank, a member of the Board of Supervisors in Russell County, withdrew from the race to receive the Democratic Party’s nomination for Lieutenant Governor on Friday, May 15. Citing the economy and the need to attend to business in southwestern Virginia, Bowerbank endorsed Jody Wagner for the nomination. It is something of a sharp turn, after his comments regarding the recent debate moderated by a supporter of Wagner—at which Bowerbank declined to appear.

I have mentioned before that early morning meetings are anathema to me—the kryptonite to my normal Superman-esque attitude. Don’t get me wrong, when I need to make an early meeting, I can—I just don’t like it, and heaven protect you if there is not coffee involved.

It’s been a good couple weeks for Terry McAuliffe, one of the Democrats seeking the party’s nomination for Governor.
