Seriously, more important things loom right here at home and right now, starting with run, don't walk to your telephone or computer. Either call the Board of Supervisors comment line at 703-777-0115, or write to them at bos@loudoun.gov and ask them when they

In the "don't forget" list, start with the Freedom Drama Department's "Ring Around the Moon," which can be seen for only $7 on Nov. 5-7 at 7:30 p.m.

First of all, Mommy Bootcamp is promoting "Get Fit For The Holidays" classes, not only to get a jump on that New Year's resolution to take off the holiday weight, but to keep it from piling on in the first place.

First, this just in from Doug Johnston at Ticonderoga Farms, to remind people that their Pumpkin Fest continues. This Saturday will also feature live music of the ‘70s with "Movin' On" appearing from Noon to 3 p.m. on the stage (rain date is Sunday, Oct 18).

These aren't the first, and this being Loudoun, we can be assured they won't be the last - although one can hope!

To start, a season's worth of save-the-dates just in from Debbie Vickers, parent volunteer with the Freedom High School Drama Department:

The only pleasant thing about yellowjackets right now is the fact that they will be dying soon.

So this Tuesday morning, he needed much encouragement to help me roust people out for their coffee and pancakes to get ready for school. Now he's sleeping it off. But I'm not playing the Hallelujah Chorus, because my son went off to Stone Hill, and I want him back down here for all of his high school.

Dulles South Youth Sports (DSYS) night is Friday September 4 at Freedom High School, so come on out to support youth football, and stay to cheer the Freedom Eagles against Warren County. Check out DSYS at www.dullesyouth.com and Freedom news at the school Web site to keep abreast of events.

The Countywide Transportation Plan update will be moving forward again. One reason outlined in the FOIA documents for the scuttling of July's public hearing was that people would not be able to participate during the summer months.

However, a bit of background on a major issue might be helpful.

They've started running that advertisement again, that it's "the most wonderful time of the year".

I often agree in spirit, and had for some years the practice of opening all the windows and blasting the Hallelujah Chorus when the last bus pulled away on the first morning of the school year.

Having now participated in this ritual of my husband's clan for 15 years in a row, there are issues I follow up there as well as here, most notably in the areas of land use, planning, and debate.

A continued look into the Freedom of Information Act documents regarding the stalled Countywide Transportation Plan seems to show a relationship between lobbying against both schools and roads, at least for some.

A number of e-mail communications between the Dulles Commissioner and the Citizens for Community Schools coordinated a meeting in the spring, ostensibly a public one, that was apparently only advertised via e-mail lists and private discussion boards.

The Freedom of Information Act requests relating to the Planning Commission's lack of action on the Countywide Transportation Plan (CTP) are starting to bear fruit.

A scheduled meeting on June 25 had to be cancelled for lack of a quorum. An e-mail from Dulles Commissioner Chaloux time-stamped 5:59 a.m. on that date reads "I don't think I am going to go to the PC CTP work session tonight. No quorum tonight probably means no CTP PC public hearing in July."
