Ashburn News:

Holiday Shopping for a Cause

This year you can buy last minute Holiday presents while helping a local family. Taylor Love, a two-year-old Ashburn resident, has been fighting neuroblastoma for the past year. Neuroblastoma is a rare cancer of the sympathetic nervous system. Approximately 650 children are diagnosed with this cancer each year in the US. Because such a small number of children are diagnosed with this terrible disease there is a lack of funding to find new treatment options. The families of children with neuroblastoma, the Band of Parents, have taken it upon themselves to raise awareness and the $3 million that is needed to fund a new treatment called humanized 3F8 antibody treatment. According to the Band Of Parents website, “most drugs used on children today were developed for adults twenty to thirty years ago.” For a set of beautiful notecards made from a local artist go to http://www.simply-create.com/neuroblastoma/LONELIEST%20ROAD%20NOTECARDS.html.
