The Potomac District is a wonderful place to live and work. As the Potomac representative on the Board of Supervisors, I will work hard on important issues for our community, including:
-
Open and Honest Government - I believe all Board proceedings should be open to the public and that we must end sweetheart deals between Board members and developers. I support tougher ethics rules that would prohibit Board members from personally profiting from their votes on the Board.
- A Commitment to Education - I understand the importance of giving our kids a world-class education with proficiency in math and science. I will invest in our schools so that our kids learn the skills they will need to compete in the new global economy.
- Stop Out-of-Control Development - I will stop irresponsible development in Loudoun County. I will only support construction plans if they include sufficient money to fund road improvements, schools, and other public services.
- Extending metro and Reducing Traffic - I support the plan to extend Metro to Dulles - removing thousands of cars
from our roads each day. I will work with Governor Kaine to use state transportation funding to improve our local
roads, and will encourage companies to increase their use of telecommuting and flex-time scheduling.

We face a congestion crisis in Loudoun County and in Northern Virginia for which I have been working
to provide real solutions. As Supervisor, I have worked to improve access to mass transit, bring metro to
Dulles Airport, improve bus service, encourage telecommuting, and make our communities safely accessible to
pedestrians and bicyclists. We must take action to reduce the number of cars on our roads. One of the
most critical issues facing Loudoun County is managing growth and development in order to ensure our
schools aren't overcrowded and traffic congestion doesn't get worse while we continue to address
transportation needs. We must slow our growth by using tools like the comprehensive plan, zoning and
subdivision regulations, and capital improvement budgeting. I support increasing local governments
power over zoning that would allow Supervisors to reject development plans if roads in the area and
the region are too congested to support them. As Supervisor, linking transportation to land use decisions
has been one of my top priorities.

The people of Loudoun and Potomac desperately need representation from a person that considers their issues to be more important than those of the special interests that paid for their campaigns, or the political party machines that have produced the very serious problems that we currently experience. I am the only person in this race that fits that description.
